RecipesChristmas Punch Start with one carton of French vanilla ice cream, melted, in the punch bowl. For each guest: 1 oz. of dark rum and Kahlua to 1 cup of commercial eggnog. Add dollops of sweetened whipped cream. Also pitcher of plain eggnog, both dusted with nutmeg.
Shrimp Puff Wreath Make recipe of puffs. Mince cooked shrimp, toss with enough mayonnaise to create a creamy constancy, add coarsely ground pepper and onion powder, to taste. On day of party stuff puffs, create a fresh parsley ring on a circular tray, then stud with filled puffs. Dot greens with fresh, raw cranberries.
Baked Ham with Noodles Cut ham into bite sized pieces, but not too small, about ½ the size of an ice cube. Toss with a bit of melted butter and cooked noodles, about 5 cups of ham to 1 of Christmas shaped noodles. Add 1 cup sliced cling peaches, 3 Tbs. juice from peaches, 2 Tbs. minced candied ginger, 1 tsp. onion powder, and a pinch of ground cloves. Serves 5, multiply by number of guests.
Apricot Honey Mustard Sauce Combine equal parts honey mustard and apricot preserves, heat to melt and blend, serve hot.
Potato Salad Start with traditional potato salad To every 5 pounds add: 4 chopped green pepper, 12 chopped, hard cooked egg, 4 jars drained pimento, 1 cup chopped, fresh parsley, and a cup of mayonnaise.
Date Nut Bread 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Sift together flour, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Stir in walnuts and chopped dates until dates are separated and well coated with flour mixture. Whisk together oil, molasses, butter and egg; stir into dry ingredients. Dissolve baking soda in the boiling water; stir into flour mixture; beat well. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Let stand for 10 minutes. Bake date nut bread in a 350° oven for about 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Whipped Butter Whip butter with an equal amount of soft cream cheese, just before serving, with a little honey. Use commercial "soft" cream cheese, not softened regular cream cheese because it will harden.
Apple Cranberry Salad 3 cans chunky cranberry sauce Combine the first 4 ingredients, make Jell-O according to package instructions, substituting juice for water. Add to fruit, chill overnight. Run through with a fork before serving, toss with nuts.
Corn Dressing Combine: 3 bags of cornbread cubes, 5 well beaten eggs, 1 can creamed corn, 1 stick melted butter, 5 chopped stalks of celery, (with leaves), 2 chopped onions, 6 cups roughly chunked sausage, 2 drained cans corn, and 1 tsp. salt. Bake in buttered casseroles, at 350 º, covered, for an hour. Serve hot.
Imported green and black olives, radish roses, dill gherkins, (sliced once lengthways), green onions, (cut off root end, but leave greens), and cherry tomatoes.
Candy Cane Cake 2 layer, yellow cake, white butter cream icing, filling made from crushed candy canes and pineapple preserves.
